In refractive surgery Laser Thermal Keratoplasty (LTK) the periphery of the cornea is shrunk to steepen its curvature and reduce longsightedness. The procedure works as the moisture in the cornea absorbs the laser’s energy pulse causing the tissue to heat and shrink.
