Keratoconus
Corneal protrusion into a cone shape resulting in reduced vision even with spectacles. Can be visually corrected, and in some cases the rate of protrusion halted or reduced, by rigid contact lenses. However, more advanced cases require a corneal graft. The degenerative hereditary condition causes thinning of the corneal layers and usually effects both eyes.
